  • Regarding the Dr. Alice E. Wilson Award: Am I still eligible to apply if I have taken a few courses within a three year window after receiving my master’s or doctoral degree?

The intent of the award is for mature women returning to school full time after an absence of continual education. There has to be a complete absence for at least a three year period.

  • I have been accepted into a master’s course based program. I am not sure about completing the Statement of Intent on the application form.

Course-based degree: A one year degree programme does not meet eligibility guidelines. (It is not possible to complete one of the requirements listed below as well as the required courses in one year.)

A course-based Master’s degree must have an end result that is in the form of one of the following or a similar demonstration of expertise in the field of study. It must be a degree requirement of the academic department:

     1. Research paper
     2. Capstone research project
     3. Clinical project
     4. Publishable article
     5. Monograph
     6. Practicum Report
     7. Musical Performance
     8. An art exhibition
     9. Oral Defense on a topic required by the Department
    10. Comprehensive exam in area as required by the Department

For applicants in a 2 year course-based program, a tentative cumulative plan must be discussed in the application’s Letter of Intent due January 10th.

Research Thesis or Dissertation Degree:
The application requires an overview of the research to be conducted including goals or hypotheses, methodology, data analysis, anticipated findings and relevance to the discipline.

  • Can I submit transcripts as proof of enrollment or acceptance?

No. We require documentation from the institution as proof of enrollment or acceptance.

  • École Polytechnique Commemorative Award: The description of the award states that the applicant must justify the relevance of her work to women. The award commemorates the 14 women students murdered at the École Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989. Is it that the research work has to focus on women concerning the above issue or any candidate can apply who are doing doctoral work centering on women’s voices, addressing their issues, lived experiences?

The École Polytechnique Commemorative Award is open to students in any field or topic. However, the applicant must justify the relevance, and demonstrate how their research or project is significant to women.

  • Academic CV: Can you please confirm if the Academic CV required for the CFUW Fellowships should be the generic Canadian Commons Academic DV (www.ccv-cvc.c) or a self created document?

An academic CV refers to your academic and your professional career. It serves as a comprehensive list of your educational background, awards, publications, research, teaching experience and life experiences.

  • Am I eligible if I’m studying full-time, but graduating Christmas 2025?

Students must be enrolled for the full academic year in the accepted field of study.
