B.Mus. (Honours), 2016, University of Saskatchewan M.Mus., 2016-2018, Georgia State University
Anya Pogorelova is a conducting student at Georgia State University, specializing in wind band repertoire. She is an assistant conductor with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Wind Orchestra, Concert Band, Chamber Ensembles, and is a graduate assistant with the Pantherband marching band.
This year, in addition to examining major wind ensemble repertoire, Anya’s research focused on the late Dr. David L. Kaplan, former music professor and department head at the University of Saskatchewan. In examining archive entries and manuscripts, Anya edited and engraved a major Kaplan work for concert band and is in the process of working on several other pieces. These works are being arranged for middle and high school level bands, making Dr. Kaplan’s music accessible to younger players. All of these editions of Dr. Kaplan’s works will soon be made available to the public.
